CORPORATE PROFILE

Founded in February 1985, Intex Telecom Systems is the leading provider of telecommunication solutions and services to domestic and international carriers in the Philippines. It is also among a few industry players that can install base station controllers (BSC) and mobile switching centers (MSC) facilities. It provides a diverse range of telecom services and solutions such as:

* Installation, commissioning and integration of switches and BTS network installation

* In-building cellular coverage

* Telecom equipment installation

* Cell site acquisition

* Installation, commissioning & maintenance of NGN

* Installation and commissioning of DSL, IPDSLAM

* Systems integration

Crucial to the growth of Intex was its partnership with Nokia.  This started in 1988, when Intex was the distributor of NOKIA’s data communication products in the Philippines.  Other Nokia product lines, such as transmission equipment and backbone networks, were introduced in the early 1990s when the Philippine telecom industry was deregulated.  Intex facilitated the entry of Nokia’s GSM technology with Globe Telecom and Smart Communications, which were just starting up their operations then. Intex and NOKIA have significant achievements as partners, to wit:

* In 1993, Intex along with NOKIA built the first optical network of Smart in Metro Manila.

* In 1994, Intex and NOKIA built the Metro Manila microwave digital backbone of Eastern Telecoms, which was a major international gateway of the Philippines.

* As the sole distributor of NOKIA networks, Intex built PLDT-DIGINET in 1996.  This is the largest digital data network in the Philippines, and one of the largest in the world.

 * Intex also built the whole Mindanao Data Network of TRANSCO.

In 2000, Intex created a service company called Wireless Technology Solutions (WTS) to initially be a subcontractor for Nokia of telecom implementation services (i.e. the installation of cell site or switching center equipment and cabling and other peripheral equipment) as the latter rolled out Globe’s wireless network.  Since then, WTS’s activities have expanded to include services assigned directly by Globe such as cell site acquisition, provisioning of in-building cellular coverage and telecom installation for equipment purchased by Globe from suppliers.  WTS has consistently ranked number 1 in site acquisition.  It is also the number 1 contractor for IBS in 2007.  Both achievements have been based on WTS’ ability to roll out projects efficiently and effectively.

Today, the Intex Group has become a multi-faceted and thriving business, with focus on systems integration, installation and maintenance of telecommunication and data communications systems.  It has PLDT/Smart, Globe/Innove, Sun/Digitel and Transco for its key customers.  It has also expanded its supplier partnerships to include the biggest telecom equipment suppliers in the world, including Nokia-Siemens and UTStarcom.  In 2007, it has entered into a service agreement with Huawei.  Other notable achievements of Intex are as follows:

* Intex installed and commissioned the first and largest DSL network in the country for PLDT.

 * In 2005, Intex in partnership with UTStarcom introduced New Generation Network (NGN) to PLDT. Intex is also the sole contractor for the implementation and maintenance of PLDT’s NGN.

* In the same year, it also launched GEPON technology, otherwise known as Fiber to the Home at the high-end residential markets of Ayala Alabang, Rockwell & Essensa.

* It also introduced ANTLABS (Advanced Network Technology Laboratories), which provides zero-configuration connectivity, secure access control and roaming technologies, enabling seamless connectivity for wired and wireless networks in private and public domains like hotels.

* In 2005, it also introduced Secured Socket Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL-VPN), a product of AVENTAIL, which provides security to remote corporate users while accessing data from their home office.

* In 2007, it started providing IBS services for Sun Cellular and is considered its number 1 IBS contractor.

* It also received awards for site acquisition and IBS from Smart in 2007 and 2008 respectively.  For IBS, the company was awarded prestigious accounts like Shangri-la Resort of Boracay, Ayala Center - Cebu, Mariott Hotel - Cebu and Marco Polo – Cebu.

Intex is the leading contractor for Smart/PLDT, Globe/Innove and Sun Cellular/Digitel, because of top quality service, fast roll-out and commitment to the customer.  To date, Intex has installed and commissioned over 80% of the switches and more than 50% of the cell sites of Smart & Globe across the country, creating a track record of quality service and reliability. Specifically, it has built more than 50% of Globe’s IBS sites.  It has also a 100% monopoly of the deployment of NGN and IPDSLAM for PLDT.

Behind the achievements of Intex is a dynamic organization composed mostly of engineers working as key account managers/officers or project managers/engineers.  Its technical management team is backed with years of experience gained from global telecom vendors and local telcos.   The diversity of Intex’s projects has provided a hands-on laboratory for honing the skills of its telecom engineers, who are known to be competent and reliable across the industry.    In addition, Intex has a Technical Factory, which is a structured training and coaching program designed to build the skills of the engineers and prepare them for higher positions.
